Munch joseph | cultural curator

Munch is a graduate of Howard University where he majored in Electrical Engineering. This self proclaimed cultural curator has performed nationally and throughout europe as a DJ for artists, brands and various clients (20+ years). His music production credits include theatrical works, Hip-Hop Nightmares of Juju Be Brown [ACTCO] and others as well as music for artists the likes of Raheem Devaughn, Wes Felton, Tabi Bonney. 

In 1997, he co-founded one of the longest running open mics in DC, The Movement Sessions at Bar Nun - a live performance institution on historic U Street NW Washington, DC. The Movement Sessions served as a platform and catalyst for the Washington, DC cultural and music scene that you experience today. In 1998, He also co-created Groove Gumbo, a multimedia, multi-disciplined arts event produced locally and throughout the United States for public, private and university organizations. In 2001, Munch received a grant from the DC Commission On the Arts and Humanities to produce a Hip-Hop inspired orchestra, The Hip-Hop Philharmonic which performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Smithsonian Folklife Festival and Adams Morgan Day Festival.  In 2006, he co-founded DC Loves Dilla - a tribute event which has feature 70+ area and national talents. 

In 2015, Munch took his talents to Austin, TX where he curated the very first official SXSW DC Showcase spearheaded by The DC Economic Partnership. Other productions include The Grammys, The Kennedy Center Honors, The BET Honors, Art All Night and more. Munch has lent his marketing, arts and curatorial expertise to national and global brands PUMA, Red Bull, The National Education Association, SEIU and more. He operates HedRush+Agency, a boutique firm based in The District of Columbia.
