Michael Dove

Michael Dove is a theatre director and producer who specializes in new plays with a particular interest in international theatre, political work, and experimental styles. He was the founding Artistic Director of Forum Theatre (which recently ended production after 14 seasons) where he produced over 60 productions, 9 of which were World Premieres. He was also the Co-Artistic Director for the DC Samuel Beckett Centenary Festival. Regionally, he has directed at Orlando Shakespeare, PlayMakers Repertory Company , Vermont Stage Company, 1st Stage, Cape Fear Regional Theater, as well as productions at Imagination Stage, Solas Nua , the Source Festival, Montgomery College, and the University of Maryland. As an educator, Mr. Dove teaches directing at the Shakespeare Theatre, leads workshops for directors and designers at the Kennedy Center, and has been a guest panelist at Georgetown University, American University, James Madison University, and the University of Maryland. He is a proud member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society and is a regular attendee of the TESZT Euroregional Theatre Festival in Timișoara, Romania, reporting for the Center for International Theatre Development. He has a special interest in Central and Eastern European theatre particularly in Hungary and Romania.

As a 202Creates resident, Michael will be working on establishing an international theatre and dance festival in DC as well as an initiative to establish a network of cultural centers all over the country to tour international work more easily and to counter the trends of artistic and cultural isolationism.
