Dionna Dorsey | fashion designer
Dionna M. Dorsey is a Creative Director born in Springfield, Virginia. After graduating from Villanova University in 2002, she moved to Milan, Italy to attend Istituto Marangoni for fashion design. In a challenging decision to move stateside, she relocated to New York City and designed outerwear for Oscar de la Renta and mens apparel for several other licenses. A later move to Washington, D.C. in 2009 gave life to Dionna Dorsey Design, a design boutique that specializes in being creative – from graphic design to art direction, brand strategy and website development.
Her most well-known project to date is the 50th Anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” as Dionna was tasked with the awesome opportunity to provide creative direction and branding for a client that organizes Annual Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimages.
She's also the woman behind DISTRICT of CLOTHING, an apparel line developed with the conventional and avant-garde dreamers and doers in mind. Local favorites include the DC Dreamer/Doer and Le District tees and BuzzFeed noted DISTRICT of CLOTHING as a top way to show your love for DC.
"I wanted to create something with a positive message to battle all of the negativity our communities see, hear and experience daily. Hopefully our apparel reminds folks that if you dream it you can do it." –Dionna M. Dorsey
Dionna has been featured in Marie Claire and was named a Washingtonian Style Setter in 2013.
