Aaron Landrum

Aaron Landrum is a photographer and artist from Boston, Massachusetts. He’s been practicing photography and working in health care for more than 10 years exploring how art can serve as a tool for healing communities. Much of Aaron’s artistic practice is informed by his commitment to holistic healing by building communities committed to the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of Black men and communities. Too often, Black men are captured and held captive in a state of non-expression. Aaron’s artistic practice seeks to produce more depictions of Black men and boys living outside of the frame society binds them too. This includes considering the landscapes that may help to shape these narratives, specifically urban environments like the ones he grew up in. He hopes to use his work to reimagine the possibilities for both Black men and for the landscapes that he photographs. His work has been supported by the DC Commission on the Arts and he is a 202Creates Fellow. He earned his Master of Management from Wake Forest University and his BA in Health and Societies from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently based in Washington, DC.
