Michele has been working to end human trafficking for over 15 years on 5 continents, conducting field research and advocating for improved policy and legislation. She is currently the Executive Director of ArtWorks for Freedom, a nonprofit organization offering a radical new approach to raising awareness and inspiring action to end human trafficking by using the transformative power of the arts and the strength of local communities. She is also an adjunct professor at the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University. She teaches courses on international human rights with a focus on women’s rights, human trafficking and civil society and is the recipient of the Morton Bender Award for outstanding teaching.
