Downtown Summer Flicks Presents Can I Kick It?

  • Freedom Plaza

Washington, D.C. May 10, 2017 - Every Tuesday in June at sunset, Freedom Plaza (13th & Pennsylvania) will be transformed into an outdoor movie theater featuring CAN I KICK IT? - a multimedia movie screening engagement produced by SHAOLIN JAZZ. Each event features a classic (or cult contemporary classic) martial arts film that is scored with an original music soundtrack of hip hop, soul, and more mixed live by DJ 2-Tone Jones.

Event attendees are invited to start their night at Boss Shepherd's (13th & F St NW) for a special CAN I KICK IT? Happy Hour featuring event themed cocktails, or play a game of ping pong on Freedom Plaza. A limited number of stadium cushions will be provided by Zipcar and popcorn will be available from Pret A Manger (while supplies last). Films will start promptly at 8:30 PM, where audiences will be treated to cult contemporary classics such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Matrix.

CAN I KICK IT?, produced by SHAOLIN JAZZ, enjoys a monthly residency at the notable Adams Morgan music house and record cafe, Songbyrd, where attendees regularly enjoy CAN I KICK IT? on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
