Capital Fringe Chamber Music Festival Series Opening Night: Maggie Finnegan & Hui-Chuan Chen

  • Capital Fringe 1358 Florida Avenue Northeast Washington, DC, 20002 United States (map)

In Capital Fringe’s first ever Chamber Music Series, each program will feature musical innovators of the past colliding with unexpected new music from composers of the present, as DC musicians perform everything from Bach and Beethoven to Britten, Ives, Adès and much more. Winner of the 2016 Washington International Competition for Voice, Maggie Finnegan rocks the repertoire from medieval song to contemporary opera and everything in between. For the opening night of the Fringe Chamber Music festival, Finnegan collaborates with pianist Hui Chuan-Chen on a program that reflects the multiplicity of voices in contemporary American song, from the raucous cabaret sounds of William Bolcom to the poignant and reflective Captured Goddess by Dominick DiOri. Fresh works by Lembit Beecher take vocal range and dexterity to the limits and hear the poetry of Emily Dickinson and Emily Bronte set as intimate portrait by composer Juliana Hall.
